Wiggle Song: Wiggle Song
Hello Song: Let's All Go to Storytime
Story: Cat Secrets by Jef Czekaj
This book is for cats only! Are you a cat? Prove it!Cat Secrets is a great book to get kids moving. Ideally, this should have been saved for the second story when kids were a bit more wiggly, but they still enjoyed acting like cats (especially the meowing!).
Movement Song: Driving Around in My Little red Car (from Storytime Katie)
Driving round in my little red carDriving round in my little red car
Driving round in my little red car
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep!
The kids love to "beep!" their cars. We also did several versions after I asked them for other colors for our cars to be.
Story: Cupcake by Charise Mericle Harper
This little story focuses on being unique and accepting others. The true message went over the kids' heads (they were very focused on the types of foods in the story), but they still enjoyed. The parents really seemed to love the overall theme of the book!Fingerplay: Ten Little Cookies (sung to the tune of "Ten Little Pilgrims")
1 little, 2 little, 3 little
cookies (pop up fingers with each cookie)
4 little, 5 little, 6 little cookies
7 little, 8 little, 9 little cookies
10 little cookies with milk!
(with your 10 fingers extended, grasp a large
glass of milk. Glug, glug!)
Reverse count
This was then followed by a discussion of cookies and the best kinds (chocolate chip was the winner in our group).

Closing Song: Tickle the Clouds
Craft: Caterpillar Crawlers (idea from Neal and Keri's Blah Blah Blahg)
Supplies:
- Pre-cut strips of green construction paper (caterpillar body)
- Pre-cut circles (caterpillar head)
- Colooring tools
- Tape (much easier than glue!)
These were just green paper chains with caterpillar heads attached! Some kids needed help from their grown-ups to make the paper circles, but this was a good chance for some positive interaction.
