Story: Bulldozer's Big Day by Candace Fleming

A very sweet story about an excitable bulldozer who has a very BIG day today, but no one seems to remember.  This book gave us a chance to review colors and learn about the jobs of construction vehicles.

Story: Pete The Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by James Dean

This is my personal favorite from Pete the Cat!  The kids really got into the song; I always start clapping during a "singing" portion of the book and encourage all the kids to join me.  This helps everyone feel more comfortable participating if they're a bit shy and don't like to speak up or sing.

Craft: Folded Paper Butterfly

Supplies:

• Pre-cut butterflies (half-sheets of construction paper)
• Glue (sticks or bottles)
• Foam shapes
• Do-A-Dot markers
• Coloring supplies  

A volunteer cut out construction paper butterflies and the kids decorated them with gusto.  Easy, but great for a creative outlet.
